Pharmacy Services

We have a full range of pharmacy services available at our Honley branch.

To find out more about each individual service, please click on the links below.

  • Alcohol Intervention Service

Pharmacy Staff will screen and provide one to one support and advice to people over 18 years of age.

This will identify higher-risk and increasing-risk drinking habits and staff will provide brief interventions to motivate individuals to take positive action, help them modify their drinking patterns, and refer to specialist services if necessary.

  • Disposal of Unwanted Medicines

If you have any unused medicines at your home, you can take them to one of our chemists who will dispose of them safely.

  • Emergency Contraception

If you've recently had sex without using contraception, or you think that the contraception you did use might have failed, you may decide you want to find out more about emergency contraceptions.

If you act quickly (within 72 hours) emergency contraception can prevent you from getting pregnant.

Ask for access to FREE emergency contraception.

  • EPS

This service allows your GP to send your prescriptions to us electronically.

To sign up for this service simply complete the form here.

  • FREE Collection & Delivery Service

Not only can we collect your prescription from the surgery for you, but our pharmacies can also offer to deliver your medication to your home.

Ask a member of staff for more information.

  • Head Lice

This pharmacy will provide advice and support to people registered in Kirklees on the management of head lice, including where necessary, the supply of combs to detect head lice and medicines for the treatment of head lice.

  • Medicine Compliance Aids

Some patients require help with taking their medicines. Compliance aids available at our pharmacies and prepared by our pharmacy staff may be able to help.

Pharmacy support could include compliance charts, screw top closures, medication administration record (MAR) charts, labelling medicines in large fonts and multi-compartment compliance aids.

Ask a member of staff for more information.

  • Medicine Use Reviews

Also known as 'medicine check-ups' or 'medicine MOTs', this is a free NHS consultation with our pharmacist about your medicines.

Consultations are held in our private consultation areas so your conversation will not be overheard.

We aim to improve your understanding of your medicines and get the best results from the treatment.

  • New Medicines Service

If you are prescribed a new medicine for the first time, for either an existing or newly-diagnosed health problem, you may be able to get extra help and advice about your medicine from our pharmacist.

This is available through a free scheme called 'The New Medicine Service'.

  • NHS Prescriptions

We supply medicines and appliances ordered on NHS prescriptions, and provide information and advice to enable safe and effective use by patients and carers.

  • Private & Veterinary Prescriptions

All our chemists dispense private prescriptions and prescriptions for animals.

Ask a member of staff for a competitive price.

  • Private Consultation Area

Our pharmacists are health professionals trained to give you the best support and advice available.

The service is free and all our branches have private consultation rooms where you can talk with your pharmacist about your health questions in the strictest confidence.

  • Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles

Did you know your pharmacist can provide you with advice and tips on keeping healthy, such as stopping smoking, how to eat healthily and how to get enough exercise?

You may also be able to get leaflets and written information to help you make healthier choices.

  • Signposting

If your pharmacist thinks you may need additional help from other healthcare professionals, social services or voluntary organisations, they can provide you with the contact details.

  • Smoking Cessation

Smoking cessation services involve a consultation with the pharmacist who will create a programme to improve your chances of giving up.

Smoking can affect your lungs, heart, veins, arteries, stomach, mouth, throat, skin, bones and your fertility. Through passive smoking you can also pass these effects on to those you care about.

Just knowing that cigarettes are bad for your health might not be enough to make you stop, but it’s a great start. After that, it’s about getting all the support you need.

Ask a member of staff for more information.

  • Supervised Consumption

A supervised consumption service where indicated by prescribers.

We can supervise the consumption of prescribed medicines at the point of dispensing in the pharmacy, ensuring that the dose has been administered to the patient.

This service is only available in certain circumstances where prescribers have indicated a requirement to do so.

  • Support for Self Care

All our pharmacists are highly qualified and want to make sure that you can look after yourself and your family.

Your pharmacy can help you to do this by giving advice on treating minor ailments like coughs and colds, or long term conditions such as asthma and diabetes.

Ask a member of staff for more information.

This is a busy pharmacy with many staff who are always brisk and efficient - and more importantly, courteous and discreet.
