Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
Medicare Chemists is now able to offer customers the NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). This service gives you the opportunity to have your repeat prescription sent directly from your GP to the Medicare Chemist of your choice.
What does this mean for you?
Rather than having to collect your paper prescription from your GP and take it to your local pharmacy yourself, if you have a repeat prescription it can be sent electronically to your local Medicare Chemist which we can then fill and advise you when it is ready for collection or delivery.
How can you sign up for EPS?
It's simple. All you need to do is complete the form opposite and select the Medicare Chemist that is most local to you. This is called 'nomination'. All Medicare Chemists operate the full EPS facility. You are only able to nominate one pharmacy at any one time.
Can I cancel or change my nomination, or revert to a paper prescription?
Yes. You are able to cancel or change your nominated chemist at any time. Either tell your GP or any pharmacist that offers EPS. Make sure you advise them before your next prescription is due to avoid it being sent to the wrong address.
Should I use this service?
YES if you have a repeat prescription and don’t want to go to your GP practice to collect it every time.
YES if you want to have your medicines delivered to your home.
If you don’t get prescriptions very often, or want to be able to pick up medicines from different places, then this service may not be relevant for you.
